Adoption of children by gay couples or people from the LGBTQ+ community has always been a controversial issue, as some people in society consider it "immoral" and argue that it is an "unnatural" way to start a family. Today I will share two articles about adoption in the LGBTQ+ community and we will analyze them with the Aristotelian method.
SOURCES
Ethos: In both articles, the writer is focused on determining the positive points that the adoption of children in the LGBTQ+ community could have. The author, having experience, can list benefits that a child could have when adopted by a homosexual couple. List the guide of behaviors that generate trust and credibility for the reader.
Logos: The writers use persuasive language for the audience, using words such as benefit and safety for children. Words have a strong impact on people's feelings and brains. Using positive sentences gives the audience the need for nurture and even a feeling of security.
Pathos: Pathos is used in both articles in a very continuous way. Emotions are present throughout the content of the articles; children are mentioned from the beginning of the narratives. As human beings, we always have more empathy for vulnerable organisms like babies or young children. In addition, the articles mentioned how it can improve the life of an adopted child, improve emotionally, economically, etc. By highlighting all these points, the empathy that human beings have by nature is generated.
This type of Aristotelian analysis helps us better understand and organize ideas and information to generate a persuasive message.
